The philosophy and methods of Truth Trackers were developed by pastors and ministry leaders. The program was thoroughly thought out and designed to help the local church strategically evangelize and systematically disciple children and families. Today, Truth Trackers is rapidly growing. Churches across America are joining Truth Trackers Clubs. We invite you to learn more about Truth Trackers and see how we can help your church "track down" the truth! Let us introduce you to some of the people who developed Truth Trackers.
Ben and Dayna Ice
God placed Ben in the home of Dennis and Kay Ice where they serve the Lord at Grace Baptist Church in Muncie, Indiana. The Ice's were examples to Ben of faithful servants in the ministry; and as a result, after he trusted Christ, his heart was directed toward vocational ministry. Ben studied for the ministry at Maranatha Baptist Bible College. During the summer, Ben counseled at Northland Camp. While counseling, Ben was challenged to memorize scripture. He first used the scripture memory verses Northland had produced in the staff handbook, but soon started to develop his own organized, scripture memory program. Ben graduated from Maranatha with a BA in Bible, married to his wonderful wife, Dayna, and started his Masters in Bible at Maranatha. Ben and Dayna were members at Brookside Baptist Church and served in the children's ministry there. As they worked with children, they wanted to find a way to memorize scripture as a family and also to teach their children to know Bible verses to answer to life questions. Ben and Dayna had an idea one day as they were going through an intense physical trial and were looking up Bible verses to answer their life questions. "What if we organized the core verses that we would want our children to memorize and put them into a questions/answer format, like catechism?" (question: "Is Jesus Christ God?" answer: John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.") So, Ben and Dayna gathered the core verses of the faith, tried to discern and write out the question the verse would answer, and then organized those verses into different systematic categories: the memory program was born, and Truth Trackers was now in its primitive stage. Then the Lord directed Ben and Dayna to go to Simpsonville, South Carolina where Ben would serve as the Children's Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church and also attend seminary at Bob Jones Seminary. While at Calvary, Pastor Dean Taylor talked with Ben about replacing their current Wednesday night program with a program that had organized Scripture memory and that provided comprehensive discipleship for children and families. Soon, Ben and his good friend Lukus were developing the program which today is known as Truth Trackers. Ben graduated from Bob Jones Seminary in 2006. Ben and Dayna have two miracle girls, Isabelle and Ireland, and pray the Lord will use them for His service.
Lukus and Liesl Counterman
Lukus had the privilege of growing up in a pastor's home. His early training was absolutely directional in the course his life would eventually take. As a teen, he desired to pursue a career in medicine. He earned his BA in Biological Science from the University of Maryland. Upon graduation, his godly parents asked him to spend one year at a Bible college. He was applying to Dental school when he went to Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI to fulfill his parents' desire. While there, he met great friends and decided to work with them at Northland Camp and Conference Center (Dunbar, WI) for the summer. As a counselor, he spent hours encouraging young people to pursue God's will for their lives, and he was smitten with his own need to do the same. In the ensuing months, God pulled his heart closer and closer to Himself. Lukus submitted to the clear leading of the Lord and prepared to enter seminary. During his summers at Northland Camp, he met his wife Liesl Shingledecker (yes, that was her real name). She also had the wonderful experience of growing up in a godly christian home. She graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College in '98 with a degree in English Education and a minor in Music and then travelled for two years with the Steve Pettit Evangelistic Team while working summers at Northland Camp. After Lukus finished his MA in counseling and a year of teaching high school, Lukus and Liesl were married. They moved to Maryland where Lukus would serve for four years under the leadership of his dad (Andy Counterman) at Anchor Baptist Church as the Children and Family Pastor. During those years, he finished his Master of Divinity from Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary in Lansdale, PA. The Lord called Lukus to pastor in Wichita Falls, TX at Messiah Baptist Church in August '04. Lukus and Liesl enjoy working together in the church, writing and developing Truth Trackers, and training their three small children, Elijah, Eden, and Cana Grace.
Aaron and Brenda Habegger
Aaron grew up in the home of a godly family at Grace Baptist Church and Heritage Hall Christian School in Muncie, Indiana. Aaron went to Bob Jones University and graduated with a degree in music education in 2000. During Aaron's college years, he worked as a counselor at Northland Camp. There he helped lead and develop the children's groups for the family camps. The Lord cultivated Aaron's creative ability and desire to serve God during those formidable summers.
Upon graduating, Aaron returned to his home town to teach preschool and elementary music. Again, Aaron used his creative ability to write songs and programs for the Christian school. Grace Baptist Church was also very needy of a new Wednesday night program, so Aaron took over this ministry too. Soon Aaron was impromptu writing and running a children's ministry on Wednesday nights. Ben Ice and Lukus Counterman contacted Aaron to put to use his creative gifts and writing ability for the Truth Trackers program.
Aaron is married to his closest friend and earthly companion Brenda. Brenda is a nurse and loving mother of two wonderful children, Maddy (4) and Micah (2). Brenda is also a vital part of the financial aspect of Truth Trackers. Aaron and Brenda love serving the Lord at their church and Christian school, writing and managing Truth Trackers, and spending time with family.
